Does the majority is always right?
Once the lesson "Knowledge Society", still in high school (and so quite a long time:)) I read the important question: Does the majority is always right? This question had fallen enough in my memory that remained with me ever since. I decided that I will write more about it.
Already at the beginning to answer - no, most do not have
is always wrong. The whole thing is to use the word "always" - which is quite dangerous ... even about whether the majority is usually right - it can be discussed.
In the history - the past and the more recent - there are many examples of how the majority could be wrong. I will give only three:
Mikołaj Copernicus had his vision of how the universe is built. He announced that the Earth is not at its center. For the people of his contemporaries was more evident than now for us is how far this view is incorrect. Copernicus lonely sentence passed in front of everyone else.
Mahatma Gandhi. A man who believed that India could be liberated from British rule and without the use of armed force. He believed this so strongly that in the end, and others followed his example. In the beginning, however, was all alone. Then it was hard to admit that he "is right."
With recent times we have even Peter Schiff. An American economist, appeared on television saying that America is waiting areaażne economic collapse. He said that Americans borrow too much and too little produce, and that it will not end well. Laughed at him. Nobody believed that the collapse of America is waiting. Even before the crisis, everything looked like a fairy tale. Most even for a moment did not think about any crash. It seemed that real estate prices have only ever will go up.
Such as in the story is definitely more, but to reach them we need not go far. Sami ask ourselves - is in everything and always agree with the majority? Do you always act like the majority thinks is right?
If your answer is "yes", then my theory is not confirmed ...
If your answer is "no", then who is right? Most? Or is it that when the majority thinks like you do, the majority is right, but if you thought otherwise, and for this reason it is not? All are right, if you only have a sentence like you have?
Let's go back again to the past. Progress in the past did not change was the fact that the majority decided on something. In fact, all progress - whether technical or in the way of thinking - change was due to individuals. Thanks to those individuals who have decided to break with the traditional perception of the world for their own perceptions. They were either brave men, or with great vision, or stupid in the reare that they did not realize of what is possible and what is impossible. But when they made it - ridiculed the same all the other "wise" people.
Such people live here and now, with us - even Malcolm Gladwell, Seth Godin, Robert Kiyosaki. These are people who think differently. Otherwise perceive the world. You could say that they live in another world, which is governed by the new rules. These rules cover all of us, but the majority of society sees them. Why? A little out of habit, a bit of intellectual laziness, but most of all - fear of change.
I am not concerned even about the fact that these three gentlemen are right. I do not want to prejudge. That's it, that thosewho stand in the place - certainly not wrong.
Dzisjaj only one thing is certain - that the world is changing. Only change is something to which we can be 100% sure. Next year we will be living in another world. Whether or not we follow along with him, or stay in place, depends only on us. This is our choice whether we want your person to create a new value, or do not want to lay low and we prefer to be disciplined in line. Remember one thing:
If you are standing in the place, certainly not change the world.
